How to Evaluate Feasibility of Installing a Greywater Recycling System
Once a winery has determined they have enough sources of greywater, such as worker or guest accommodations, to make greywater recycling worthwhile, the next step is to conduct a technical and economic feasibility analysis.
|System Component||Key Questions to Ask||Key Factors to Consider|
|Collection System||Are the drains from greywater sources accessible?||Plumbing from greywater sources (showers, bathroom sinks, laundry) must be accessible to install greywater collection system. In an existing building this may require significant renovations. This is easiest to accomplish at the design and construction stage.|
|Storage System||Is there sufficient space for a greywater storage tank and other equipment?||Site must be able to accommodate an indoor storage tank and associated equipment. Tanks are usually compact since greywater cannot be stored for extended periods of time without more expensive treatment.||Distribution System||Can the plumbing system be accessed to supply toilets and urinals with greywater?||Plumbing to end-use fixtures must be accessible in order to install the greywater distribution system and may require renovations in existing buildings. This is easiest to accomplish at the design and construction stage.|
